The 17th Street Market property is owned, operated, and managed as a public venue by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities. As one of the oldest public markets in America, and possibly Virginia’s longest continuously operating Farmers Market, the 17th Street Market has been a center for commerce and connection for more than 275 years. The market venue hosts festivals, music, art, vendors, and other programming. 17th Street Market embodies Shockoe Bottom’s vibrant character and serves as a neighborhood resource.
